How To Help:
Donate funds: You can help us make a difference in East Africa by making a donation. As we are supported by generous efforts of volunteers, all donated funds will be used to provide direct relief to people with albinism. To make a direct donation via PayPal, please click here.
We are grateful for any donation, but we also appreciate checks as sites like PayPal charge a 2.9% transaction fee on all donations. If you prefer to write a check directly to us, please make it out to Asante Mariamu and send it to: 3525 S. 8th Street, Arlington, Virginia, 22204.
Asante Mariamu is currently seeking 501(c)(3) status. We registered as a non-profit corporation in February 2010, and submitted federal tax-exemption papers shortly thereafter. Any donations we receive from the date of incorporation will be considered tax-exempt once we receive our 501(c)(3) designation, which should occur by December 2010. The federal government grants these exemptions retroactively because the filing process for a 501(c)(3) is so lengthy and time-consuming. Please contact us if you have further questions about this.
Donate sun gear: New wide-brimmed hats (children’s/youth sizes are needed most), lightweight long sleeve shirts, sunscreen (SPF 35 +) and sunglasses (can be used but must be clean and in good condition). Many people with albinism in East Africa are dying prematurely and painfully from skin cancer. Send your donations to UTSS, Mike’s Parcel Pickup, 183 W. Stutsman Street, Pembina, ND 58271-4100. Contact us for more information on donations.
Organize a SunDrive: Do you have a middle-school aged child, Boy/Girl Scout troop, church, church group, swim club, or other groups of people who would like to help? Organize a SunDrive to support people with albinism in East Africa by:
